81,411 footsteps across the Desert. Walking. Crossing, measuring a stony desert at 2,500 metres above sea level in the heart of the central Apennines, searching for the last summer snow, estimating the dimensions of the previous mounds. Observing its shape as it changes from hour to hour. Warm sun, cold wind. The form of the snow constantly changes in its immobility. Covered with dust and debris, it’s an ulterior variety of rock in a stony desert. A rock that moves. Snow/rock increasing or decreasing.
